Bloomberg reports that Apple’s VP of Retail and People, Deidre O’Brien told staff in a video that the company plans to open “many more” Apple Stores without providing any detail. Bloomberg quotes O’Brien saying:
We are continuing to analyze this health situation in every location, and I do expect we will reopen up many more stores in May,
O’Brien reportedly also told staff in March that the company wants to have a good amount of worldwide stores open by mid-April, and currently, only one store in South Korea has reopened. Apple’s decision to close all of its international stores marked the biggest impact the global pandemic is having on the company.
It’s no surprise Apple wants to move slowly. Reopening stores too quickly could fuel the spread of the virus, and in harm, would put in danger Apple Store staff and customers.
