Apple leaker Jon Prosser who nailed the launch date for the iPhone SE more than 2 weeks before launch has shared some upcoming details about the iPhone 12 lineup.
Jon leaked the whole iPhone 12 lineup earlier this month, this time adding the prices we can expect. Jon says that the baseline iPhone 12, with a 5.4-inch screen code-named D52G will costs $649, which places it right below the iPhone 11 which is $699. This version will have 2 cameras, OLED, and 5G.
The next in line is the 6.1-inch iPhone 12, D53G being priced at $749, opening a new price range for Apple’s iPhones. This version will also have 2 cameras, OLED, and 5G. Now for the higher-end models, Jon reports that the iPhone 12 Pro with a 6.1-inch screen, D53P with 3 cameras plus the LiDAR, OLED, and 5G will start at $999.
The highest-end model, the iPhone 12 Pro Max with the larger 6.7-inch screen, codenamed D54P will cost a whopping $1,099. It is worth noting that the current largest iPhone, the 11 Pro Max has a 6.5-inch display.
Reports surfaced earlier this week indicating that the base iPhone 12 will be cheaper than the current iPhone 11 thanks to new processing methods and, weirdly enough the implementation of 5G. Apple Terminal did not cover that report as we did not feel it was based on sufficient reasoning, and/or the source had a questionable track record. Jon’s confirmation today confirms the legitimacy of that specific report.
While we know the prices, what remains uncertain is the design, and release date. Report after report suggesting that the iPhone 12 is being delayed by a few months, but still poised for a keynote reveal in September.
