Three after years after Craig Federighi announced that SteavVR would be coming to macOS, the company announced today it is suspending support. In a blog post, Valve says they made the decision to better help the team focus on the larger base of Windows and Linux users.
While official support is out the door, Mac users have always found ways to circumvent non-compatible software with running Windows on their devices, or virtualization software.
The news is sure to ring some bells at Apple. The company is reportedly hard at work at its own AR glasses and is keen on expanding its work in the VR field. Having one of its potential competitors end support for its own OS, is ought to help the company in the market.
