The brand new 13-inch MacBook Pro and 2020 iPad Pro seem to be a success not only for Apple but its suppliers too. DigiTimes reports today that Apple touch panel supplier GIS or General Interface Solution is expecting to do very well in Q2 of 2020 thanks to the new devices. As per the report:
Apple’s just released 13-inch MacBook Pro, coupled with the previous rollouts of 12.9- and 11-inch iPad Pro in March, will help drive sales momentum at GIS in the second quarter, which is likely to continue into the first half of the third quarter, said the observers.
GIS saw its revenue come down in the first quarter thanks to COVID19, down 33.43% compared to the previous year. But, they are expecting demand for the new iPad Pro to help shipments increase by around 40%. Sources also say that 50% of its total Q2 revuene will come just from the iPad.
With demand from the notebook and tablet sectors running higher than expected, GIS is expected to see its touch solution shipments for 12.9- and 11-inch iPad Pro devices surge over 40% sequentially in the second quarter, with related iPad revenues accounting for 50% of its total revenues in the quarter, estimated the observers.
The report adds that the new MacBook Pros will also help increase revenue.
