Apple Leaker Gives a Name:- May 9th
Apple leaker Jon Prosser tweeted out today that Apple will stick with the AirPods naming scheme for the reported over-the ear headphones, calling them AirPods Studio. He adds their codename is B515 and will retail for $349.
Bloomberg reported today, April 16th, that Apple is working on over the ear wireless headphones with “parts that can be swapped in and out” aimed at joining the AirPods business.
Apple is said to be working on two different versions, a premium high-end model with leather and another fitness-focused model that’s lighter, and breathable. Prototypes of the headphones have a
“retro look with oval-shaped ear cups that swivel and a headband connected by thin, metal arms. The arms stem from the top of the ear cups rather than the sides, the people added. They asked not to be identified discussing products that haven’t been announced.”
Apple is taking design cues from headphones like Master & Dynamics and Bowers & Wilkins as current designs of the headphones have a headband that magnetically attaches to the frame so they can be replaced by the user. This approach will allow customers to personalize the headphones like the Apple Watch is with custom bands.
As for the actual technology Bloomberg says it will take AirPods Pro noise-canceling features and integrate into the headphones. It’ll reportedly include Hey Siri and will cost around $350 to match up with competitors.
Apple has been working on them for almost 2 years, and they have been delayed twice sources tell Bloomberg. Current plans aim for a launch later this year. Apple’s work from home policy due to COVID-19 is also impacting audio testing and development.
