DigiTimes reports today that Apple is accelerating its move of iPhone production into Vietnam and India. The report notes an escalating trade war between China and the United States as the main reason.

Apple is already reportedly planning a massive shift of its iPhone production into India, possibly making it the country’s largest exporter. Apple already produces the iPhone XR in the country and has singled its willingness to expand. Apple is also thought to be trying to move AirPods production into Vietnam.

All of this comes as Apple faces increasing pressure to diversify its supply china outside of China given the COIVD19 pandemic. More recently, political tensions between the US and China may be threatening Apple’s stability in the Chinese economy, although experts say nothing will happen.
