As Apple pushes towards a wireless-based future with the reported restarting of internal AirPower testing it’s slowly becoming apparent it’s whole product lineup will eventually go entirely wireless.

Today prominent Apple leaker @l0Vetodream tweeted that Apple is working on an entirely wireless AirPods design. The account does not specify a release date, however, 2021 with the expected completely wireless iPhone 13 would be an educated assumption.

The AirPods would rely on wireless charging technology such as the AirPower and may possibly include Qi support. Qi is the industry standard for wireless charging with the AirPods 2nd gen and AirPods Pro both compatible.

Apple is expected to launch sports-based AirPods products according to Apple leaker Jon Prosser. The exact time frame for the launch with the uncertainty of COVID19 remains unknown.
