Apple leaker Jon Prosser today shared brand new, never-before-seen images of AirPower. Prosser reported earlier that Apple restarted the project with the hopes of ironing out issues that caused the company to cancel it in 2019.
Prosser says today that engineers have been able to solve an issue that prevented the Apple Watch from charging. The issue reportedly arises from the Watch overheating due to the coils in the charging matt. Apple engineers are experimenting with new ways around the issue by placing the coils in different positions and/or overlapping them. Additionally, Prosser says Apple is looking to use the A11 chip to “dynamically manage heat” on the device.
Apple marketed the AirPower as a charging matt for all your main devices; your iPhone, Apple Watch, and AirPods. Enrgerining a product to charge all those devices, anywhere you place on the matt is a challenge. Typical wireless chargers typically only charge one device, in a specific position, Apple is eyeing to change that in the industry.
