Apple is expected to launch the Apple TV 6 later this year, first reported by Jon Prosser, it’ll feature an A12X Bionic chip. The chip was first introduced in the 1st gen 11-inch iPad Pro and 3rd gen 12.9-inch iPad Pro. Its successor, the A12Z chip was released alongside the 2020 iPad Pro.
Little detail was currently known about the device in regards to appearance, however, yesterday tipster @Jioriku gave us a little more insight into what expect. According to the tipster, the design will remain the same, maintaining the classical look that has become a staple of the lineup. The leaker also claims that the A12X Bionic chip is a “powerhouse of a machine.”
Additionally, in a follow-up tweet, the leaker says that Apple is making its own gaming controller, which is not entirely new. While a release date is not mentioned, they do say that a release at WWDC is “always a possibility.”
Alongside the new chip, it’ll reportedly come with new storage models and will debut with the soon to be announced tvOS 14 update. In terms of release date, Jon Prosser in May said they are ready to ship and that it “could drop any time.”
WWDC set to start on Monday may include the release of hardware, most likely AirTags, and a new iMac. The Apple TV is unlikely to make an appearance with Bloomberg reporting a launch later in the year.
