In a stunning reversal amid a realization that its profits would ultimately get impacted, Facebook announced on Friday that it will label posts and ads about voting with links to credible authorities even if they are posted by politicians.

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerburg announced the changes in a live-streamed town hall where he confirmed Facebook will also ban ads that portray people of different races, religions, immigration status, or sexual orientation as a threat to public safety.

A spokesperson for the company also confirmed that the new policy would have included a post from President Trump earlier this month about mail-in ballots, the same post which Twitter labeled.
