Industry insider and display analysts Ross Young shared today that panel production for the iPhone 12 is months ahead compared to the higher-end iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max.
The iPhone 12 lineup will consist of OLED displays from two suppliers, BOE and Samsung. BOE is new to the lineup, whereas Samsung has been providing OLED displays for Apple since the iPhone X. BOE recently failed quality tests, yielding a logical delay in production, contradicting the analysts.
The analyst says that the iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max will face higher delays with the baseline having an early lead in volume. The iPhone 12 will be the cheapest model in the lineup and is likely to sell the most at first.
The iPhone 12 is expected to be facing delays due to lockdown measures in China, Apple’s main production hub due to COVID19 earlier this year. Apple suppliers are slowly recovering, however, the domino effect of the lockdown on a product launch remains to be seen.
