WhatsApp, which is owned by Facebook is working on a feature to have chat sync across multiple devices and platforms (still in development) according to WABetaInfo. Cross-platform chat sync is not yet supported according to the rumors (We will update the post as soon as a confirmation is received). They are also reportedly working on a separate app for iPad OS. WhatsApp currently supports chat syncing through WhatsApp web which requires a phone to be powered on and connected to the web.
The rumored feature would not require a phone to be constantly connected to the web and would allow users to use WhatsApp on multiple devices simultaneously. WABetainfo also reports that an iPad app is imminent after the multiple device support is released.
WhatsApp, which now has 2 Billion active users has been working on curbing the spread of fake news by adding a search feature that allows users to upload a message via their browser without WhatsApp ever seeing the message. WhatsApp is reportedly also working on expiring messages feature which appeared in several beta updates as well as the ability to mute groups forever which are still in development. This would be useful for people who are in a lot of groups. Expiring messages will let you set a time limit for a particular chat which would delete the messages after the said timer has expired.
Nevertheless, very exciting updates are coming to WhatsApp which will be beneficial to both, users’ privacy as well as ease of use.
