Alognside the public launch of iOS and iPadOS 14, Apple today offically released watchoS 7 to the public. The update brings some small but noreworthy features. Mainly, watchoS 7 enables sleep tracking on Apple Watch, now your Apple Watch will be able to track your moeovemnt throgh the night and montior how long you’ve slep eveyr night.

watchOS 7 and Sleep Tracking uses the built-in accelerometer and the onboard heart sensor to detect micro-movements, all that information can then be found within the health app o your iPhone. When you wake up in the morning, your Apple Watch will show you long you sleep fort and whether your sleep time has increased or decreased over the last 14 days.

watchOS 7 also includes automatic handwashing detection which will countdown from 20 when it detects a user is washing their hand. The Apple Watch uses motion sensor, the microphone, and on-device machine learning to on-device machine learning for detection. Users can now also share Watch aces with friends and family via Messages or Mail and can even share them online as standard links.

watchOS 7 is available as a free software update today for the Apple Watch Series 3, Series 4, Series 5, Series 6, and Series SE.
