Today Launcher 5 officially landed on the App Store, bringing its iconic widgets to iOS 14 with support for the brand new homescreen widgets. For those of you haven’t hard of Launcher before, it’s an app that was popularized with the introduction of widgets in iOS 8, allowing users to create custom widgets with custom shortcuts. For years it was used by users as a place to easily get to short tasks such as calling, or messaging a friend, or even playing music.

Apple still lacks some basic widgets for its own apps such as Phone or Contacts, but thanks to Launcher 5 you can customize your widgets to tap into shortcuts instead. The app is fairly tricky to use, it may some complicated at first however its just a series of steps in order to customize the widgets.
With the free version of the app, users get one free large and medium-sized widget. These two widgets can be customized to whatever degree you wish. There are different options such as a Contact Launcher, App Launcher, Music Launcher, Web Launcher, and even a custom launcher. With the contact launcher for example you can set up a shortcut to open Gmail and compose an email, or to email someone.
The app also includes the ability to change widget icons based on date or time, location, customizable widget background sizes, and so much more.
