Apple leaker Kang who has been a credible source of information for Apple’s product releases is reporting that following the launch of the iPhone 12, Apple will stop shipping a charger with the iPhone 11, iPhone XR, and iPhone SE 2.
In a post on Weibo spotted by ITHome, Kang says that Apple will no longer ship the charger in the box with the standard 6.1-inch iPhone 11, iPhone XR, and the iPhone SE 2. Apple is widely expected not to include the charger or earphones in the box this year with the iPhone 12 ina big to “save the environment”.
Apple has preemptively confirmed this during its “Time Flies” event, and not offering an Apple Watch charger in the box with the Series 6 and Series SE. As with every launch, the previous years’ iPhone models typically get a drop in price. Kang says he’s unaware of the new prices for the existing iPhone lineup following the iPhone 12.
As for timing, Kang says that it will take place following the launch of the iPhone 12. In more specific terms, it’s likely Apple will allow the current batch of iPhones with chargers in the box to finish, and then start shipping newer boxes for the devices. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has also confirmed this.
