Update- 10:50AM PT on October 12th
Either due to widespread media coverage or a misstep on its side, Apple has added back the official Beats landing page after taking it down earlier today. The takedown of the page not only fueled speculation that the launch of the AirPods Studio is imminent, but it also added weight to a statement made by leaker Jon Prosser in April that Apple has long terms plan to “phase out Beats“.
Apple has silently removed the official Beats webpage from its website ahead of the Apple Event on Tuesday, October 13th. The page that would typically lead to an overview of all the Beats products that Apple offers now simply states “The page you’re looking for can’t be found.”
Using Wayback Machine, the latest screenshot of the page available is from October 9th, and that snapshot shows the page as down. The 2nd most recent archive of the page is from Ocotber 2nd which shows the page up and running. When exactly Apple took the page down between the 2nd and 9th of October is unknown.
Apple still however does sell Beats products on the Headphones and Speakers section of its online Apple Store in the US. Bloomberg reported last week that Apple would stop selling all 3rd party headphones and speakers from Sonos, Logitech, and Bose ahead of the event which is now rumored not to include the launch of the AirPods Studio. As Bloomberg reported, Apple stopped selling activity tracker Fitbit in 2014 prior to the launch of its own Apple Watch.
