Apple releases iOS and iPadOS 14.2 beta 3 to registered developers

Following the release of beta 2 last week, today Apple seeded the 3rd beta update of iOS and iPadOS 14.2, the next major update for iOS and iPadOS.

iOS and iPadOS 14.2 alongside bug fixes and improvements includes a redesigned Now Playing section within Control Center. The new design offers a gallery view of recently played songs from Apple Music, or other music providers, and larger album artwork for currently playing songs. The gallery view also extends to the lockscreen.

Apple is also taking Shazam systemwide with a new toggle inside of Control Center. The new toggle which can be added via Settings, Control Center. The toggle officially called “Music Recognition” allows users to identify a song that is directly playing on their iPhone such as from a social media video or ad.

Developers can download iOS and iPadOS 14.2 beta 3 from the Apple Developer Portal, or via an OTA update on registered developers. A public beta can be expected later today, or tomorrow.
