App Exits Beta and Officially Launches

The new version of the Xbox app that allows Xbox One users to stream their games directly to their iPhones has been released onto the App Store, The Verge reports. The new app unlike Microsoft’s cloud streaming service, XCloud which still remains unavailable on Apple devices connects directly to the Xbox console instead of via the cloud.

Apple has approved a TestFlight version of the new Xbox app that alongside a major redesign and new features, allows iPhone users to stream console games to their iPhones. As iMore reports:

The new Xbox app featuring a full redesign and a host of new features is also available on iOS through TestFlight, allowing iOS users to access the fresh interface and even Xbox Remote Play. Now players can stream Xbox games directly from their console to their iPhone, circumventing in part the lack of Xbox Cloud Gaming on iOS. For now, the newly updated Xbox app is only available through TestFlight, so there are limited numbers of available downloads, which may already be filled.

The Verge reported earlier this week that the signs were clearly evident that Apple would approve the ability to stream Xbox games to your iPhone. At the time, The Verge reported that Apple was reviewing the iOS version of its new app that contained the previously exclusive Android feature.
