Mixing things up, today Apple released macOS Big Sur 11.0.1 beta 1 to developers, despite not yet having released macOS Big Sur itself to the public.

It’s highly likely as 9to5mac’s Filipe Espósito points out that Apple is holding the release of macOS Big Sur 11.0 until after it announces its Apple Silicon Macs at an event next month. The 11.0.1 update is likely the first update to following Big Sur after it ships, instead of being the first version to ship at all.

One of the biggest changes in the new beta is the addition of new wallpaper from iOS 14.2 beta 4. Thanks to @_AppleExpert, you can download the new wallpapers in full 4K quality here.

Additionally, for developers that are using Apple’s Developer Transition Kit, it’s worth noting that if you wish to restore your Transition Kit Mac to the latest beta, Apple will require you to use another Mac. Apple’s release notes read:

If you need to restore your Developer Transition Kit to macOS Big Sur 11.0.1 beta, you must use another Mac running macOS Big Sur 11.0.1 beta to perform the restore. (69589918)
