November 9th Update- App Officially Launches

Ahead of its set launch tomorrow, November 10th, the Apple TV app has gone live on Xbox consoles. With the new app subscribers of Apple TV+ can watch TV shows and movies straight from the console, The Verge’s Tom Warren showcases the apps UI.

Apple is working with Microsoft to bring its Apple TV app to Xbox console games, WindowsCentral reports:

Apple TV is currently available to a limited pool of testers on Xbox consoles, and we can now independently verify with our sources that this preview program exists, even if it’s not yet broadly available.

It appears likely that Apple TV for Xbox will be identical in features and functionality to the TV apps available on LG and Samsung TVs, but designed to work with an Xbox controller instead of your remote. The app includes access to Apple TV services, including its Apple TV+ subscription service launched in late 2019. The testing program has briefly appeared for some users, although with availability still locked down at this point in time.

The Apple TV app which is available on a wide range of smart TV and boxes gives users access to Apple TV+ and other accompanying channels. With the introduction of Apple TV on Xbox, gamers and typical customers alike will be able to use Apple’s services without needing to purchase an Apple TV box directly.
